Ing has more than 12 years of botanical experience having worked in numerous bioregions in Queensland including South-east Queensland, Cape York Peninsula, Einasleigh Uplands, Wet Tropics and the Central Queensland coast. He has a strong working knowledge of the flora of Queensland, across a wide range of vegetation types. Ing has particular expertise in plant ecological processes, having completed his PhD on this topic in the subtropical rainforest communities of South-east Queensland.
He has applied his botanical skills to a variety of environmental impact assessments for a diverse range of development clients, and has a well developed understanding of GIS. His associated vegetation mapping and database skills have been employed on large scale mapping and database projects such as the Road Corridor Environmental Assessment database for the Queensland Department of Main Roads. Ing undertakes regular Reviews of Environmental Factors for QDMR across North Queensland including on the Einasleigh Uplands, Cape York Peninsula and in the Wet Tropics.
