Peter attained his Honours degree in Environmental Science (botany and zoology majors) in 1996 and has since worked for resource and civil development clients providing ecological advice. His broad ecological background encompasses both terrestrial and inter-tidal ecosystems.
His terrestrial skills have been developed through numerous resource inventories, and management-related assessments of flora and fauna issues in rainforest, woodland and arid environments.
Peter’s core area of expertise is working with endangered species (eg Cassowaries, Black-throated Finches, frogs, and Dugongs) and he regularly provides expert advice to regulatory bodies and development clients. Much of this threatened species work has required analysis of results within the context of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 including national reviews of two Endangered species for the Commonwealth Department of Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts. Peter regularly works in conjunction with various research and regulatory organisations and is adept at using his research skills in applied ecology to ascertain legislative conformance and mitigation requirements for development proposals.
