NRA’s editor has undertaken independent editorial review of new and revised national default water quality guidelines.
NRA assisted the Environmental Research Institute of the Supervising Scientist with the derivation and reporting of the national default guideline value for manganese and default and site-specific guideline values for uranium in freshwaters.
NRA pioneered the application of specialist freshwater ecology and general ecology to the monitoring and assessment of resource development impacts to ephemeral systems in north Queensland. NRA has developed monitoring and reporting systems and maintains a database and reference specimen collection. Freshwater ecology requirements are now routine elements of regulatory policy and licensing documents, and the Queensland environmental regulator sought NRA’s expertise in formulating the minimum standards expected from mining companies across the state.
