Shannon is a senior environmental scientist specialising in environmental management, erosion and sediment control, environmental audits, natural resource auditing and water quality monitoring. She has undertaken several major projects for the Department of Main Roads and mining clients that included licensing under Local, State and Federal legislation; including the five year construction, operation and decommissioning of a Department of Defence radar project on two islands in the Torres Strait, for which she was the environmental manager. Shannon has written construction EMPs for major infrastructure projects and acted as Construction Environmental Manager, implementing EMP and licence requirements and undertaking conformance audits. Other projects include erosion and sediment control plans, environmental assessments and audits for Queensland Department of Main Roads and mining clients. Shannon has been extensively involved in the development and implementation of Environmental Management Systems (EMS) for Citiworks Townsville, Kagara Ltd, and the Department of Defence (Lavarack Barracks).
Since 2003, Shannon has conducted freshwater ecology studies for sites across northern Queensland. These studies included baseline research, routine monitoring and incident investigations. Shannon has completed AusRivAS, a nationally recognised course in aquatic macroinvertebrate monitoring, and holds Queensland accreditation. Shannon is also a Principal Auditor in the Environmental Program of Exemplar Global and is certified in erosion and sediment control (Certificate No. 1003-001).
